MANILA -- The National Youth Commission (NYC) has named former Special Assistant to the President Christopher Lawrence Go as "Pambansang Kuya ng Kabataan" for his contribution to national youth development.

On Monday, the NYC released Resolution No. 44, sponsored by Commissioner Victor del Rosario and adopted on Sept. 25, 2018, which cited Go's numerous initiatives that benefited the youth.

In the resolution, NYC said Go's health advocacy paved the way for the establishment of Malasakit Centers that hastened the delivery of medical services and gave poor patients, including minors, access to medicine.

His sports-led projects such as the "Sapatos ni Sap, Tsinelas ka-swap" and "Go for Hoops: Three-point shootout" were acknowledged for making an impact - by encouraging the youth, mostly victims of calamities, indigenous people and youth in conflict-affected areas to focus more on sports, teaching them the value of discipline, sportsmanship, and teamwork.

The commission also cited Go's calls for the proper implementation of the Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act "that greatly benefited millions of in-school youth across the country."

"Such aforementioned programs and advocacies advanced the administration's three-point campaign against drugs, criminality, and corruption that greatly benefits not only the youth and the people who are in need in the country," the resolution reads.

The recognition was approved by NYC Chairperson Ronald Gian Carlo Cardema, and commissioners Del Rosario, Paul Anthony Pangilinan, and James Ceasar Ventura. (PNA)
