MANILA -- A task force from the People's Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) of China, consisting of two frigates and a replenishment ship, will dock at Pier 15, South Harbor in Manila for a four-day goodwill visit beginning Thursday.

Philippine Navy (PN) spokesperson Capt. Jonathan Zata, said in a statement Wednesday that the contingent, composed of the frigates "Wu Hu" and "Han Dan", and replenishment ship "Dong Ping Hu", is set to arrive at 9 a.m.

A welcome ceremony and port briefing will be conducted upon arrival of the China PLA Navy vessels after a customary meeting procedure conducted by a designated PN ship.

Zata said this will be the second time a Chinese Navy ship will be visiting the country during the term of President Rodrigo Duterte.

The first visit took place at the Sasa Wharf, Davao City on April 30, 2017 with the Changchun, a Type 052C (guided-missile destroyer) and Jingzhou, a Type 054A (guided-missile frigate); and Chaohu, a Type 903 replenishment ship.

The first goodwill visit lasted until May 2, 2017. (PNA)
