MALAYBALAY CITY -- The local government unit (LGU) of Valencia City has raised a reward of PHP1 million for anyone who can provide information that could help resolve the killing of one of its officials on Friday.

In a statement Saturday, Valencia City Mayor Azucena Huervas condemned the "brutal murder" of Ariel K. Cabingas, administrative officer of the City Economic Enterprises and Development Office (CEEDMO).

"The LGU will give PHP1 million to any informer who can give information, which will lead to the arrest of the perpetrators," Huervas said.

Cabingas, 45, was shot dead after dropping off his wife in front of the Valencia Cable TV on TN Pepito St., police said.

The two suspects fled on a motorcycle toward an unknown direction.

Cabingas was rushed to one of the hospitals in the city but was declared dead upon arrival.

SPO1 Rael Ganadillo, who is investigating the case, said the victim suffered fatal gunshot wounds on his face and head from a caliber .45 pistol.

Mark Ryan Fuego, one of Cabingas' colleagues with the Rotaract Club of Metro Valencia, said the victim "will always be remembered for his kindness."

"Thank you Director Ariel K. Cabingas for your love, support, guidance and selfless service to the community and to us Rotaractors and interactors. Rest in Peace ya (elder brother). Your goodness and our memories will always be remembered," Fuego said. (PNA)
