MANILA -- Former Special Assistant to the President (SAP) Christopher Lawrence "Bong" Go on Monday expressed his support to the move of authorities to declare the Chinese woman, who poured "taho" (soy pudding) on a policeman at a Metro Rail Transit’s (MRT) station in Mandaluyong City, as undesirable alien.
In a press briefing at the Philippine National Police headquarters in Camp Crame, Go echoed the recommendations of Director Guillermo Eleazar, National Capital Region Police Office head, to deport Jiale Zhang, 23, a student residing in Mandaluyong, for pouring "taho” on Police Officer 1 William Cristobal after he stopped her from entering Boni Avenue station on Saturday.
“Kailangan po siya i-deport...kasi walang respeto. Tayo ngang mga Filipino ginagalang natin ang ating kapulisan (She needs to be deported...because she's disrespectful. We Filipinos respect our police force),” said Go, as guest speaker at the launching of Kabataan Kontra sa Droga at Terrorismo.
Go said he already talked to Cristobal and congratulated the police officer for displaying the highest standard of state of discipline in managing the incident.
Meanwhile, PNP chief Director General Oscar Albayalde conferred on Cristobal the "Medal of Papuri” for his exemplary action during the incident.
“Napakaganda pinakita niya sa taumbayan na talagang disiplinado at pasensyoso yang mga pulis natin ngayon at regardless kung local yan o foreigner hindi yun ang tinitingnan natin dito (He showed utmost discipline and patience to the public even if you're a local or a foreigner),” Albayalde said.
Cristobal, on the other hand, said he just did the advice of PNP chief to have more patience and to provide security for the public.
“Ginawa ko lang po yung kung ano gusto mangyari ng aming Chief PNP na habaan pa yung pasensya at gumawa lang ng tama para sa bayan (I only followed what our Chief PNP wants -- to observe maximum tolerance and do good for our country),” Cristobal said.
Cristobal, who has been in the police service for 10 years now, started from the Manila Police District.
On Sunday, Zhang was charged with unjust vexation, direct assault, and disobedience to a person in authority before the Mandaluyong City prosecutor’s office. (PNA)
