PRO-9 fetes 3 officers, 10 cops for anti-drug, peace efforts

ZAMBOANGA CITY -- The Police Regional Office 9 (PRO-9) has awarded medals to 13 policemen, including three officers, for their accomplishments against illegal drugs and for their service during the Bangsamoro Organic Law (BOL) plebiscite.

Chief Supt. Edwin De Ocampo, deputy regional director for administration, spearheaded the awarding of medals held after Monday’s flag-raising ceremony at the parade ground of Camp Abendan in Barangay Mercedes, this city.

The awardees for successful anti-drug operation are Chief Insp. Elmer Solon, Police Station 11 chief, and two of his personnel, PO3 Yusop Ismael, and PO3 Chandee Piccio.

De Ocampo said they were commended for the arrest of three drug personalities identified as Ismael Nassal, Sadan Jailani and Rajan Jumaani that resulted to the confiscation of some PHP6.9 million suspected shabu on January 4 in this city.

The other awardees for anti-drug operations are Chief Insp. Gaspar Gadingan, SPO1 Bensar Elhano, PO2 Jay Jose and PO2 Alexander Delos Reyes, all from the Drugs Enforcement Unit of the Police Station 11 under the Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO).

De Ocampo said they were cited for the arrest of drug suspect identified as Al-Caff Jikiril during a buy-bust operation at R.T. Lim Blvd. in Barangay San Jose-Cawa-Cawa, on December 11, 2018.

The awardees for the peaceful conduct of the BOL plebiscite on January 21 are Supt. William Gadayan, Isabela City Police chief; Senior Insp. Benjemar Ajibon and PO3 Arvin Jamaluddin, also from Isabela City; Senior Insp. Richmond Candido, PO3 Gajer Halkin, and PO1 Jerham Anig -- all from the Regional Mobile Force Battalion-9.

De Ocampo said they were recognized for the commendable accomplishment rendered in providing security coverage which resulted in a peaceful plebiscite on the BOL in Isabela City, Basilan, and Bongao, Tawi-Tawi, on January 21.

The awardees for the successful anti-drug operation received Medalya ng Kagalingan (PNP Merit Medal), while those cited for the peaceful conduct of the BOL plebiscite the Medalya ng Papuri (PNP Commendation Medal).

De Ocampo said the awardees have brought honor and prestige, worthy of praise and emulation by their peers in particular and the entire Philippine National Police (PNP). (PNA)
