MANILA -- Flag carrier Philippine Airlines (PAL) will be the official carrier for the 2019 Southeast Asian Games, spokesperson Cielo Villaluna disclosed on Monday.

"PAL will fly in sports officials such as Chiefs of Missions of various participating countries (for free)," Villaluna told the Philippine News Agency (PNA).

The Philippines will host the 2019 SEA Games from November 30 to December 11.

Villaluna said that it is an honor for PAL to be a major sponsor of the biennial sports event that will bring together the best and the brightest athletes in Southeast Asia region.

She said PAL President Jaime Bautista and PAL Marketing Vice President Ria Domingo will sign the partnership agreement with the Philippine Southeast Asian Games Organizing Committee, Executive Board Chairman Alan Peter Cayetano, Philippine Sports Commission Chairman Butch Ramirez and Philippine Olympic Committee President Ricky Vargas, on Wednesday (February 13.)

This is the fourth time the country will host the SEA Games to be held in four separate venues in Manila, Clark, Subic and BLT (Batangas, La Union, Tagaytay).

The country hosted SEA Games in 1981, 1991 and 2005 when the Philippines bagged the overall championship. (PNA)
