CAMP GEN. ALEJO S. SANTOS, Bulacan -- A drug peddler was killed and seven others were nabbed on Tuesday as a result of intensified anti-drug operations of the Bulacan Police in this province.

Senior Supt. Chito G. Bersaluna, Bulacan police director, identified the slain drug suspect as Gilbert Cristobal, 41, tricycle driver, a resident of Barangay Caysio, Sta. Maria, Bulacan.

“The suspect fired successive shots toward the police officers after the consummated drug transaction. This prompted our police personnel to fire back, resulting in the suspect’s death,” Bersaluna said.

Recovered from Cristobal were 11 plastic sachets of shabu, one caliber 38 revolver without trademark and serial number; one black holster; a wristwatch, buy-bust money, and one black Kawasaki Bajaj motorcycle with sidecar and plate number QN 6923.

Meanwhile, seven other drug suspects were arrested in separate anti-drug sting operations conducted in the towns of Angat, San Miguel, Marilao, Bustos and Baliwag.

Bersaluna identified those arrested as Francis Santos; Arnold Esguerra, an "Oplan Tokhang" surrenderer who is on the drug watch list of the San Miguel municipal police; Emiliano Victorino San Jose, who is on the drug watch list of the Marilao municipal police; Romulo Dantis; Nelson dela Cruz, who is on the drug watch list of the Bustos municipal police; Reynald Salmo, who is on the drug watch list of the Baliwag municipal police; and Olivia Granil.

Confiscated from them were 21 pieces of transparent plastic sachets of shabu and buy-bust money.

The seized pieces of evidence and arrested suspects were brought to the Bulacan Crime Laboratory Office for appropriate examination while criminal complaints for violation of Section 5 and Section 11 of Article II of the Republic Act No. 9165 (Dangerous Drugs Acts of 2002) are being prepared for filing in court.
