CEBU CITY -- The police in Central Visayas is now investigating a report that there is a “mini shabu laboratory” inside subdivisions in Mandaue City allegedly owned by a political family in Ozamis City and the source of illegal drugs in Cebu, a police official said on Tuesday.

Senior Supt. Julian Entoma, Mandaue City Police Office chief, said they are investigating information about subdivision units or apartments in this city with links to the Parojinog family reportedly being used to manufacture shabu.

Manufacturing of shabu in this laboratory, Entoma said, does not need sophisticated machines and a big warehouse.

“Ang ilang estilo sa laboratory, maka-produce lang og 10 kilos. So, di na kinahanglan bodega nga dagko (The kind of laboratory they have can produce at least 10 kilos of shabu so that they don’t need bigger warehouse anymore),” he said in a radio interview.

Entoma also claimed members of the Parojinog family were spotted in Mandaue City.

He named Marlon Parojinog, nephew of the late Ozamis City Mayor Reynaldo Parojinog, who has a pending warrant of arrest, as the one spotted in one of the high-end subdivisions in Mandaue.

The police are also validating the presence of a “community” composed of individuals from Ozamis City, he said.

Entoma’s revelation came after the arrest of one Charlie Duhaylungsod Fortuna during a raid conducted by the Regional Special Operations Group (RSOG) 7 (Central Visayas) which resulted in the seizure of PHP48-million worth of shabu inside a house in Vista Montana Subdivision in Barangay Casili, Mandaue City.

Accordingly, Fortuna is an underling of Romy Ramas, inmate at the Mandaue City Jail with links to the Parojinog family.

The chief of police in Mandaue said they are now validating information they gathered from Ramas after his arrest.

The late Mayor Parojinog had been linked to the illegal drug trade by President Rodrigo Duterte. He was slain in a police raid in 2017. (PNA)
