MANILA -- Flag carrier Philippine Airlines' (PAL) first new aircraft for this year has arrived in Manila on Wednesday.

The said aircraft carries a Love Bus logo, apparently to signify PAL's 40th year partnership with the aircraft maker, Airbus.

"The Love Bus is a commemorative logo for the A350 fleet to celebrate 40th anniversary of PAL's purchasing Airbus planes," PAL vice president for Corporate Communications Jose Perez de Tagle told the Philippine News Agency (PNA).

Based on the carrier's website, the Love Bus logo was first unveiled on PAL's Airbus A300B4 in 1979.

The aircraft that arrived on Wednesday is PAL's fifth Airbus A350 dedicated for long-haul flights to New York, London and Toronto, the executive said.

One more A350 with a Love Bus logo will arrive by the second quarter, Perez de Tagle added.

He declined, however, to say how many new aircraft PAL will receive this year.

Meanwhile, according to PAL, its first new aircraft underwent a test flight in Toulouse, France last February 14.

It took off from Toulouse Blagnac Airport at around 8 p.m. Tuesday and flew to Manila. (PNA)
