KIDAPAWAN CITY – A long-standing family feud sparked a shooting war between two factions of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) in Isulan, Sultan Kudarat on Friday, police said.

Chief Supt. Eliseo Tam Rasco, Police Regional Office 12 (Soccsksargen) director, said the protagonists involved Nasrullah Mama of the MILF 105th Base Command and Datu Ali Kasim of the MILF 106th Base Command in Sitio Kamanga, Barangay Laguilayan, Isulan.

Police investigation disclosed that the group of Commander Mama attacked the camp of Commander Kasim on Friday night.

“The firefight lasted for an hour,” Rasco said.

He said one of Commander Kasim’s men, Mohammad Anthony Madi, was injured in the fighting that also sent some 40 families fleeing to safer grounds.

The firefight only ceased after the town police, backed by local officials, mediated a dialogue that turned out to be successful. (PNA)
