ZAMBOANGA CITY -- A man who claims to be a member of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) was arrested in an anti-drug operation in this city, a police official disclosed Monday.

Chief Insp. Salvador Galvez, Police Station 5 chief, identified the arrested suspect as Rajiv Abubakar, 34, resident of Barangay Arena Blanco, this city.

Galvez said Abubakar was arrested in a buy-bust operation around 3 a.m. Monday along Francisco Drive, in Barangay Mampang.

Abubakar was nabbed after he sold a small-size heat-sealed plastic sachet of suspected shabu in exchange for PHP200 to an undercover policeman, who is a member of the Station Drugs Enforcement Team.

He said confiscated from the suspect were some PHP2,700 worth of suspected shabu packed in nine heat-sealed plastic sachets and PHP200 marked money consisting of two PHP100 bills.

Abubakar, when interviewed by reporters, claimed he is a member of the MILF under the 113rd Base Command in Camp Datu Tumanggong, Tungawan, Zamboanga Sibugay.

Galvez said the suspect is now detained at the Police Station 5 while appropriate charges are readied to be filed against him. (PNA)
