ComVal to present big-ticket projects at iBIZCon 2019

DAVAO CITY – Compostela Valley province will present a list of 2019 big-ticket projects worth PHP3.295 billion during the “De Oro Biz iCon”, which will be held on March 5 at the Lubi Plantation in Kopiat Island, Mabini town.

Patrick Kim Evangelio, head of the investment division of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in ComVal, said Monday the list will be presented to prospective investors during the investment conference.

Topping the list of prospective investments are the construction of a PHP400-million five-storey hotel in Montevista; the construction of Nabunturan Integrated Cooperative building worth PHP330 million; construction of a shopping mall in Montevista town at PHP1.9 billion; and coffee processing plant in Maragusan town worth PHP9.6 million.

In Compostela town, the investments projects in the pipeline are the development of commercial and industrial lots (PHP10 million); expansion of hotel and tourism-related facilities (PHP10 million); wood-working and wood processing (PHP10 million); expansion of cacao plantation area and establishment of post-harvest facilities (PHP8.5 million); buy and sell and export of Cavendish banana (PHP10 million); and the upgrading of rice processing center and facilities (PHP20 million).

Up for Public-Private Partnership (LGU investments) are the construction of commercial building in New Mawab Terminal (PHP70 million; development of public market in Crossing Gabi, Compostela (PHP40 million); completion of municipal sports complex in Compostela (PHP50 million); construction of new public transport terminal, Compostela (PHP30 million); rehabilitation of public cemetery, PHP100M; provision of potable water supply in Nabunturan town (PHP100 million); and the construction of sanitary landfill, Nabunturan (PHP25 million).

Evangelio said the other possible investments for joint venture with less than PHP5 million investment cost are on developing herbal processing plant, expansion project on garment manufacturing facility, bag production, inland resort expansion, cacao production expansion and processing, banana chips processing, development of cassava banana processing plant and marketing, Bangus culture in marine fish cage.

Evangelio expressed optimism that business deals will be forged during the business conference as the province aims to become the premier investment destination in the Davao Region. (PNA)
