CAMP SIONGCO, Maguindanao -- Four families in two upland towns bordering Maguindanao and North Cotabato provinces have sworn before the Quran to settle the long-standing feud that has troubled the involved parties for more than a decade now.

Led by Buldon Mayor Abolais Manalao, in coordination with the Army’s 37th Infantry Battalion (37IB), the feuding families of Pacasum, Macabangon, Aragasi, and Mimbisa met and embraced each other during a “rido” (family feud) settlement at the camp of 37IB Alpha Company in Barangay Oring on Monday.

The settling families are from barangays Nuyo and Edcor in Buldon, Maguindanao, and neighboring villages in Alamada, North Cotabato,” Col. Roberto Go Jr., 37IB commander, said in a statement.

Go said the families also surrendered three Carbine rifles and an M16 rifle during the settlement.

He said the long-standing feud that has claimed the lives of several members of the warring clans began with allegations of cattle rustling, theft, and envy, among members of the families. (PNA)
