SAN JOSE DE BUENAVISTA, Antique -- Antiqueños looking for work are encouraged to visit and join the March 20 Jobs and Business Fair to be held at the Robinson’s Place in San Jose de Buenavista here.
Initially, 24 overseas placement agencies and local agencies, including business process outsourcing (BPO) firms, signified their interest to join the job fair from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Myra Pe, Antique Public Employment Service Officer (PESO), said in an interview that the event is part of the culminating activity of the Women’s Month celebration.
“We invite interested applicants to come for the jobs fair,” she said.
While the event is held as part of the Women’s Month celebration, she said that male applicants can come and apply.
Of the 24 participating agencies, 14 are local agencies and eight are overseas agencies.
“There will also be two call centers --Teletech and Iqor Iloilo -- that will be hiring call center agents,” Pe said.
Data on number of possible vacancies is not yet available but she assured there will be a lot of employment opportunities.
Initially, Jollibee Antique will be looking for 30 crew members, while McDonald’s and Gaisano Antique have yet to give their list of vacancies.
Meanwhile, overseas agencies such as Greenfields International Manpower Services, Inc. and Placewell International Services Corporation will be hiring various workers such as private nurses for Oman and caretakers for Taiwan.
Another activity for the Women’s Month celebration is the Carriaga de Antique or the Antique Harvest Festival that will showcase various products like native bags, handwoven fabrics, and many other items produced by local producers.
The Carriaga de Antique will also be held at Robinson’s Antique. (PNA)
