CARMONA, Cavite -- One person was killed while 12 others, including four minors, were injured when a sports utility vehicle (SUV) rammed into an arcade center in a mall here on Wednesday.

Maj. Rommel Carcellar, local police chief, said Rollen Sartiel, 22, was pronounced dead on arrival after he and the other victims were rushed to the Carmona Hospital and Medical Center.

The driver of the SUV, identified as Rosendo Mamucod, who was found to be still recovering from stroke, was also rushed to the hospital due to hypertension.

Police Staff Sgt. Marlon Ramirez, the officer in charge of the case, said the Mitsubishi Montero was parked at the PWD parking slot at Waltermart Carmona.

Mamucod reportedly fell asleep inside the vehicle while waiting for his wife who went out to buy medicine, when it suddenly accelerated towards the main building of the mall.

The vehicle directly rammed into the amusement center, where all the victims are located at around 1:25 p.m.

Authorities are still investigating the incident while charges are being prepared against Mamucod. (PNA)
