1 dead, 2 hurt in Sultan Kudarat road mishap

COTABATO CITY -- A driver was killed while two others were injured in a highway crash at the height of a heavy downpour in Esperanza, Sultan Kudarat on Tuesday afternoon.

The Esperanza town police, in a report to Brig. Gen. Eliseo Tam Rasco, director of Police Regional Office – 12 (Soccsksargen), identified the fatality as Trisha Manansala, who was driving a Mitsubishi Mirage with temporary license plate B2-P711.

Injured were Oliver Solivio and his wife, Jesusima, who were on a Toyota Hi-Ace van heading for Cotabato City.

Police said the Mitsubishi sedan driven by Manansala was heading towards Isulan, Sultan Kudarat, amid heavy rains when it collided head-on with the van at about 5 p.m. along the highway in Barangay Dukay of Esperanza town.

Responding police and civilians rushed the victims to the hospital. where Manansala was declared dead on arrival by attending physicians.

Following the incident, Rasco reminded motorists to slow down during rainfall to avoid accidents. (PNA)
