COTABATO CITY -- The chief of the Police Regional Office-12 (PRO-12) has warned all policemen in the region to shun any form of investment scam that reportedly involved even its rank-and-file personnel.

Police Brig. Gen. Eliseo Tam Rasco, PRO-12 director, issued the warning on Thursday following a string of informal complaints circulating through social media and text messages against an investment scam operating in Region 12, which has allegedly victimized even police personnel.

“The subject of the complaint is Police Paluwagan Movement (PPM) which victims are mostly alleged uniformed personnel of PRO-12,” Rasco said.

“You (policemen) should think twice, if not abstain, from entrusting your money for a promise of a larger return of investment,” he added.

The scam operators reportedly recruit policemen to invest a certain amount of money for a 60 to 120 percent interest as a return on investment in a period of 15 to 30-day interval.

Rasco said he has already directed the Regional Investigation and Detective Management Division (RIDMD-12) to start its investigation regarding the alleged PPM investment scam.

Likewise, the PRO-12 chief encouraged potential complainants to surface and lodge a formal complaint to make individuals accountable behind the billion-peso investment rip-off regardless of their rank. (PNA)
