MANILA -- Flag carrier Philippine Airlines (PAL) said its system upgrade was successful as of 3 p.m. Sunday.

“We are very pleased with the successful transition to (PAL's) new passenger services system, Amadeus Althea Suite. All direct channels -- internet booking engine, ticketing offices, travel agent partners and contact centers are now utilizing the new system designed to provide more ease to the passengers," spokesperson Cielo Villaluna told the Philippine News Agency (PNA).

The PAL team has made a successful cutover across all direct sales channels, she said.

PAL temporarily halted its online services during the weekend to undergo the system upgrade.

“We had a long planned round the clock shifts for many teams (IT, sales, revenue, communications, marketing, social media, finance, operations, etc.) to do the migration activities. We also had volunteers at our airport stations to assist passengers during the transition," Jose Perez de Tagle, PAL vice president for communications, told the PNA.

PAL passengers can now book their seats, buy tickets, check-in, get boarding passes for onward connections, rebook, reroute or refund their tickets, he added.

Online check-in and "MyPAL upgrade" will take effect in the new system starting March 26.

“Some associated apps for ancillary products like bidding for an upgrade, and online check-in are still in progress. But the normal processes are all up and running," de Tagle said. (PNA)
