CEBU CITY -- To promote a new trend of trade liberalization and economic globalization, officials of the Shandong Provincial People’s Government will hold a cooperation seminar here on Tuesday.

Presidential Assistant for the Visayas Michael Lloyd Dino on Monday said Shandong Governor and China-Philippine Cooperation-Shandong Provincial Committee Deputy Secretary Gong Zheng will meet their Filipino “friends of trade” at a hotel here.

“I am happy to learn that Cebu has become a destination of choice for the China (Shandong)-Philippines (Cebu) Cooperation seminar,” Dino said.

Dino urged the Cebuanos to give the delegates from Shandong, China “our warmest welcome for this memorable event.”

The Chinese delegates are expected to tackle current trends of trade liberalization and globalization of the economy, he said.

“This kind of cooperation forum is very necessary between two countries with the aim of building a new platform for bilateral interconnection and promotion of the exchange and cooperation between China and the Philippines in various fields,” he said, quoting a portion of the letter inviting him to grace the occasion.

Members of the Economic Trade Delegation of the Government of Shandong Province and Shandong Overseas Friendship Association will meet their local counterparts in the said event.

“I am honored to be invited as speaker of the cooperation seminar. Remember that relationship between China and the Philippines have long been entrenched in history,” Dino said. (PNA)
