DAVAO CITY -- Udenna Corporation is eyeing three big-ticket projects in Davao City, on top of the proposed modernization of the Francisco Bangoy International Airport.

Engr. Manuel Jamonir, Udenna Corporation vice president, presented proposed projects during a forum on Monday attended by members of the Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (DCCCII).

Jamonir said the three projects are the Davao People Mover (Monorail) Project, the Sasa Port Modernization Project, and the Davao intermodal Transport Hub.

The monorail project will be under Private Public Partnership (PPP) scheme with the Department of Transportation (DOTr), in which Udenna will build, transfer, operate, maintain the PHP30-billion project for a period of 35 years.

The monorail, he said, is envisioned to be Davao City's urban mass transit solution with an approximate length of 13 kilometers consisting of 16 stations. It will start from Bangkal passing through City Hall then SM Lanang.

It also seeks the Davao Sasa Port Modernization on a joint venture with the Philippines Port Authority (PPA) for 35 years concession period with an estimated cost of PHP7.9 billion (Phase 1) under a construction period of two years from 2020 to 2022.

The program of works would include quay extension, installation of STS (ship-to-shore) cranes and other port equipment, new container yards and more ground slots, enhanced port flow and traffic management systems, and application of new systems to increase operational efficiencies.

Third on the list is the Davao Intermodal Transport Hub that will connect air, land, sea and rail travel. Jamonir said it will be the first intermodal terminal in the Philippines.

He said it is also on PPP scheme with the local government unit management contract for a concession period of 50 years.

It is estimated to cost PHP8 billion and will involve the development of an integrated transport terminal with commercial facilities. The construction period is for three years, from 2020 to 2023. (PNA)
