Overseas Filipinos with Covid-19 reach 9.8K

MANILA – Fifteen more Filipinos abroad were added to the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) case count, bringing the total to 9,893.

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Saturday reported that three Filipinos also died in the Americas while 19 recovered in the same region, including in the Asia Pacific and Europe.

The total recoveries and death toll now stand at 5,842 and 725, respectively.

"Compared to last week’s percentages, the total number of Filipinos who have recovered from Covid-19 slightly decreased to 59.09 percent of the total confirmed cases, while those who are under treatment increased to 33.62 percent," the DFA said.

Meanwhile, the percentage of fatalities among Covid-19-affected Filipinos abroad remains at 7 percent, it added.

At present, the DFA said the active cases are pegged at 3,326 -- about 349 are undergoing treatment in the Asia Pacific, 492 in Europe, 2,326 in the Middle East/Africa, and 159 in the Americas. (PNA)
