MANILA – It's a merry Christmas for Pasig City’s senior citizens as their cash gifts from the local government have been credited to their respective Landbank Automated Teller Machines (ATM) accounts.

Beneficiaries on Thursday started claiming their cash gifts through the ATMs.

In an advisory, the city government said it will resume the onsite distribution of the cash cards through its partner Landbank, on Dec. 28 and Dec. 29, to give way for the holiday season.

Pasig apologized for the delay of the cash card processing since it has been operating in a skeleton workforce due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

"Hindi man aabot sa Araw ng Pasko ang cash gift para sa humigit-kumulang 40 percent ng mga senior citizen, sisiguraduhin po nating makakarating ito sa lalong madaling panahon. Ngunit sa pagpapatuloy ng pamamahagi nito ay humihingi po kami ng inyong tulong at kooperasyon (It may not reach the approximately 40 percent of the senior citizen beneficiaries on the Christmas day, we will assure you that it will arrive as soon as possible. But we will continue the distribution and we are requesting for your help and cooperation)," it said.

The city government urged the other beneficiaries to check the schedules of the distribution through the official Facebook of the Pasig Information Office (PIO), to avoid the crowding of people in the Landbank branches.

Meanwhile, the city government has suspended the distribution of the Pamaskong Handog from Dec. 24 to Dec. 25.

The city said operations will resume on Dec. 27.

'Libreng Sakay' suspension

The city's "Libreng Sakay" operation would also be temporarily suspended from Dec. 24 to Dec. 25 and will resume on Dec. 26 to Dec. 29.

It will be suspended anew on Dec. 30-Jan. 1 and will resume on Jan. 2, 2021.

The city government reminded residents to continue observing the minimum health standards during the holidays. (PNA)
