COTABATO CITY – Lawmen on Tuesday seized firearms and ammunition during a raid at a house in remote Barangay Romangaob, South Upi, Maguindanao.

But the raiding team, composed of Police Regional Office–Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, Criminal Investigation and Detection Group and South Upi police personnel, missed their targets, local residents Resalito and Rey Trecero, who both managed to escape from the operation.

The team, however, withheld a certain Janeth Trecero who was left alone in the house that yielded one M79 grenade launcher, a .22-caliber rifle, five handheld radios, and assorted ammunition.

Senior Insp. Allan Sabdula, raiding team leader, said their operation was covered by a search warrant issued by Regional Trial Court 15 Judge Bansawan Ibrahim.

Sabdula said the principal suspects, though still at large, would face charges for violation of RA 9516 or Illegal Possession of Explosives and RA 10591 or the Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition. (PNA)
