BACOLOD CITY, Aug. 8 -- Negros Occidental Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. on Tuesday directed provincial police chief Senior Superintendent Rodolfo Castil Jr. to ensure peace and order and continuously fight illegal drugs in the province.
Marañon issued the directive as he confirmed that he has chosen Castil to be the director of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOCPPO) after serving in an acting capacity.
Castil was assigned as officer-in-charge of NOCPPO last April 1 through the order of Director General Ronald de la Rosa, chief of Philippine National Police.
He replaced Senior Superintendent William Señoron, who was relieved from his post after he was linked to illegal drug trade.
“Make Negros peaceful, drug-free, and (an attractive) investment and tourist destination,” Marañon told Castil.
The governor said he wants to maintain peace and order in Negros Occidental since the province has been identified as the second most visited place in the country by Filipino domestic travelers.
The ranking was based on the results of the 2016 Household Survey on Domestic Visitors released by the Philippine Statistics Authority and Department of Tourism showed.
For his part, Castil said he is thankful for the trust and confidence of the governor.
“I will comply with his directive,” the NOCPPO chief said, adding that the Negrenses can expect the police to do their work to make Negros Occidental peaceful towards development.(PNA)
