MANILA -- The 10-point socioeconomic agenda of the government remains on the right track, more than a year since President Rodrigo R. Duterte took office, the Joint Foreign Chambers (JFC) said in a press conference Wednesday.

European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (ECCP) President Guenter Taus said the Duterte administration has made progress in implementing its 10-point socioeconomic agenda, but the government has a lot to do to further sustain the robust economic growth and make growth more inclusive.

“Overall, I think it’s fair assessment to say that we are on the right track, but a lot still needs to be done,” Taus noted.

“A lot of progress has been made in various sectors and a number of things, few others lagged behind,” he added.

Likewise, American Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (AmCham) President Bruce Winston mentioned that the JFC has been supportive of the 10-point socioeconomic agenda of the administration.

He said the government has also been active in coordinating its policies with the local and foreign business communities.

The 10-point socioeconomic agenda will be the focus of the 6th The Arangkada Philippines Forum on Sept. 14, 2017 at the Marriott Grand Ballroom in Pasay City.

With the theme “Implementing the 10-Point Agenda,” this year’s The Arangkada Philippines Forum will discuss key programs, policies and projects that support the administration’s socioeconomic agenda in the next five years.

Moreover, the JFC cited the importance of having a stable peace and order and security in the country.

“If there’s a deteriorating peace and order situation, there’s an adverse effect to investment,” Canadian Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (CanCham) national president Julian Payne noted.

Payne added that when considering investments in a particular market, investors are looking for stable environment for their businesses

Korean Chamber of Commerce Philippines (KCCP) President Hoik Lee added that maintaining peace and security in the Philippines would be critical in further attracting tourists from Korea.

He noted that Koreans are the top tourists in the country with about 1.5 million arrivals in the Philippines in 2016.

JFC is composed of AmCham, CanCham, ECCP, KCCP, Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Philippines, Inc., Australia-New Zealand Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines, and Philippine Association of Multinational Companies Regional Headquarters, Inc. (PNA)
