ZAMBOANGA CITY -- Operatives of the Police Regional Office-9 (PRO-9) arrested 12 people and seized illegal drugs in separate anti-drug operations, a top police official said Tuesday.

Chief Supt. Billy Betran, PRO-9 director, said the arrest came as the anti-drug campaign continues without let-up in line with the President Rodrigo Duterte’s declaration of war against illegal drugs in the country.

Beltran said the suspects were arrested in a series of anti-drug operations in Zamboanga City; Ipil in Zamboanga Sibugay; and Isabela City in Basilan.

Beltran identified those arrested as Abdel Qadir, Gichin Moreno, Alfadz Kammak, Norgie Caceres, Leo Patrick Cabato and Ellaine Guina of Zamboanga City; Alex Turno and Raymond Turno of Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay; Ben Amirul, Adrian Ijirani, Aldrin Ijirani, and Jerico Baro of Isabela City, Basilan.

He said the arresting teams confiscated from the suspects packs of suspected shabu with an estimated market value of PhP13,000; packs of dried marijuana leaves; marked money; and, other illegal drug paraphernalia.

He said the suspects are now detained pending the filing of appropriate charges against them. (PNA)
