ZAMBOANGA CITY -- The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) is holding a five-day job, trade and livelihood fair, dubbed as Trabaho, Negosyo at Kabuhayan (TNK) in a bid to generate employment.

TNK is an offshoot of Executive Order No. 25 signed by President Rodrigo Duterte approving the 25-year long-term vision for the Philippines dubbed as “Ambisyon 2040,” designed to realize through the collaboration of DTI and DOLE.

The TNK is scheduled to be held from October 6 to 10 in one of the hotels in this city.

Dr. Sitti Amina Jain, DTI regional director, on Monday said the objectives of the TNK is to provide more jobs and create entrepreneurs; and, raise public awareness on TNK blueprint for “Decent Employment and Entrepreneurship 2017-2022,” which envisions 7.5 million jobs by 2020.

Jain said the major component activities of TNK are the Zamboanga Peninsula Exposition (ZAMPEX) 2017; Zamboanga Peninsula Investment Conference (ZamPen ICon); Slingshot Halal Philippines; and, Regional Consumers’ Conference (RECCON).

ZAMPEX is the region’s biggest, and grandest marketing platform dedicated to the promotion of the peninsula’s best products by the micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

It showcases the region’s unique and innovative products and services in the domestic and work markets, particularly those produced by the creative talents of the region’s MSMEs and artisans.

The ZamPen ICon, which was first initiated in 2015, is DTI’s initiative in promoting the region as a viable investment destination.

Slingshot Halal Philippines is a government-initiated platform for public dialogue and partnership, building and nurturing the innovation ecosystem as an enabling environment with policies and programs for the start-up and innovation sectors.

The RECCON is to make consumers aware and appreciate government’s program and activities for a wider scope of consumer protection rights in the business places.

The TNK is an inter-agency initiative between DTI and DOLE as well as with other stakeholders, such as the local government units. (PNA)
