LAOAG CITY -- Barely two years since Ilocos Norte has been introduced as a film destination, both local and international movie directors are coming to the province for location shoots.

The latest of which is a film entitled, “Goyo: Ang Batang Heneral”, starring young actor Paulo Avelino.

Set this October, Rogerio Bismonte Jr. of the Media Incentive Desk under the Communication and Media Office said Tuesday the movie crew will be staying for about three weeks here for the shooting.

According to Bismonte, the film will be included as entry to the Metro Manila Film Festival this year.
The film is inspired by the life story of Gregorio “Goyo” Del Pilar, the youngest general in the Philippine Revolutionary Forces during the Spanish era.

Avelino will be starring with some of the casts in Heneral Luna movie including Mon Confiado as Emilio Aguinaldo, Epy Quizon as Apolinario Mabini, Benjamin Alves as Manuel Quezon, and Leo Martinez as Pedro Paterno.

In 2012, the Media Incentive Desk was created to promote Ilocos Norte’s cinematic landscape as a film destination to draw tourism and business activities for locals.

Among the phenomenal local and international movies that were filmed in the province particularly at the famous Paoay sand dunes include “Himala”, top-billed by Nora Aunor, Ang Panday series, which starred the late Fernando Poe, Jr., Mad Max, by Mel Gibson and Born on the Fourth of July, starring Tom Cruise.
