ZAMBOANGA CITY -- Six-hundred seventy-eight uniformed personnel under the Police Regional Office-9 (PRO-9) were promoted to the next higher rank, completing the regular promotion program for this year.

Of the total, 199 -- four officers and 195 non-commissioned officers -- belong to the National Support Units of the Philippine National Police (PNP) who have been assigned with PRO-9.

Of the 678 newly-promoted in the region, 251, including 56 Police Commissioned Officers, took their oath in a donning of ranks ceremony Wednesday at Camp Romeo Abendan that houses the PRO-9 headquarters in this city.

Senior Supt. Edwin de Ocampo, Deputy Regional Director for Administration (DRDA), who administered the oath at Camp Abendan, has challenged the newly-promoted officers and personnel to perform their respective job with utmost dedication to be able to accomplish the mission.

“Promotion is an advancement of an employee from one position to another with an increase in duties and responsibilities as authorized by law, and usually accompanied by an increase in salary,” De Ocampo said as he congratulated them.

“Apparently, the government is fair enough in providing reasonable compensation, I encourage you in making this as a motivating factor for you to continue the work in accomplishing the PNP’s mission and take responsibility in giving the community a quality service they deserve,” he added.

The other promoted officers and personnel were assigned in the police provincial offices of Zamboanga Sibugay, Zamboanga del Norte and Zamboanga del Sur and Isabela City, Basilan.

They took oath in a donning of rank ceremony held simultaneously with the ceremony at the PRO-9 headquarters in this city. (PNA)
