STA. ROSA CITY, Laguna -- A total of 2,136 police squad leaders here joined the Brother’s Keeper Squad Leaders Forum Tuesday at the Sta. Rosa City multi-purpose sports complex in Barangay Tagapo here as part of the Calabarzon police internal cleansing strategy.

A pioneering project of the Police Regional Office (PRO4A)-Calabarzon, the Brother's Keeper was conceptualized by Police Regional Director Chief Supt. Ma. O Ranada Aplasca, aimed at cleansing the ranks from rogue cops and police scalawags particularly those engaged in illegal activities.

Aplasca presented his “Brother’s Keeper” concept and called on the full support of the region’s law enforcers to take on a much higher level of responsibility to closely supervise the police ranks.

The strategy also includes the development of their individual tasks provided in their job descriptions, designations and tasks.

“We conceptualized this strategy to primarily remove misfits, scalawags, and undesirables from the organization and to strictly enforce the existing disciplinary mechanisms,” Aplasca said.

The cleansing strategy also focuses on the transformation of erring personnel to become more productive members of the organization, he added.

Unit commanders, immediate supervisors, squad leaders are also compelled to closely supervise their subordinates and sanction disciplinary actions.

The program also task unit commanders, immediate supervisors and squad leaders of the police regional office and respective police units to be held accountable for non-action of their erring personnel.

Under the Brother’s Keeper strategy, the five-man squad led by a senior non-commissioned officer is organized from the regional headquarters and cascaded to police stations, platoons, and the police public safety company (PPSC). (PNA)
