GENERAL SANTOS CITY -- Three children perished in a fire that hit a community in the coastal town of Glan in Sarangani Province on Tuesday afternoon.

Chief Insp. Neil Wadingan, chief of the Glan municipal police station, said Wednesday the fire occurred at around 2 p.m. in a row of houses at a portion of the PC Reservation in Barangay Poblacion.

He said six houses, which were mostly made of light materials, were gutted down in the incident.

Citing a report from the Bureau of Fire Protection in Glan, he said three children were killed after they were trapped inside their burning house.

The victims were identified as three-year-old twins Carlito and Shaira Mae Abellanosa, and their two-year-old sister Shaira Gay.
BFP-Glan personnel were still investigating the origin and cause of the fire, and the actual damages.

The municipal government, on orders from Glan Mayor Victor James Yap, immediately released relief assistance to the affected families.(PNA)
