ILOILO CITY -- The Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) of Iloilo has adopted “It Has To Be Iloilo” as the official tagline of the province during its regular session held Tuesday afternoon here.

The tagline shall be used in all its fliers and all its promotional materials as mandated under Provincial Ordinance No. ‎‎2017-148. This ordinance states that it is already a practice to use a tagline as “tool in the promotion or marketing to spur investments and attract local and international tourists to a destination.

Board member Marcelo Valentine Serag, vice-chair of the Committee on Culture, Arts, History and Tourism and one of the sponsors of the ordinance, said that the tagline will make it easier for the province to be recognized.

“One of the reasons why we have to come up with this is because we have a lot of tourist spots in Iloilo, so it has to be Iloilo. If you are looking for beaches, there are a lot here in the Southern and Northern part of Iloilo and even historical sites, it has to be Iloilo because there are a lot of historical sites here,” he added.

Iloilo Province has also been using various taglines, the most recent include “Its Got to Be Iloilo” and “It’s Got to Be Iloilo,” which were adopted by municipal tourism officers.

Meanwhile, the Iloilo city government has “The Next Big Thing” and “I am Iloilo, Proud to be Filipino” as taglines. (PNA)
