MANILA -- The two low-pressure areas (LPAs) embedded along the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) will cause rains over most parts of the country, state weather agency Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Friday.

One LPA was spotted 520 kilometers east-northeast of Surigao City, Surigao del Sur, while the other one was tracked at 250 kilometers east-northeast of Infanta, Quezon.

PAGASA expects cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms over Visayas, Davao, SOCCSKSARGEN, ARMM, Cagayan Valley, Cordillera, Ilocos, Aurora and Quezon provinces due to the LPAs.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms, mostly in the afternoon or in the evening.

Light to moderate winds will prevail over the entire archipelago.

The country's coastal waters will be slight to moderate, PAGASA said. (PNA)
