LAOAG CITY -- With the massive improvement of access roads and bridges leading to eco-tourism sites in the province, the fruit bowl of Adams town and home to the famous bugnay (wild berries) continues to draw more visitors to discover its serene beauty.
By word of mouth and personal testimonies from adventure seekers who had been to this town being circulated in various platforms including social media, Anuplig’s 25-foot high natural waterfall framed on either side by lush forests and has two cascading fall basins is one of 18 waterfalls in Adams now being frequented by nature lovers. From the town proper, the trek to the falls is about 2.8 kilometers.
Estella Guerrero, a first time visitor from Baguio City who visited Anuplig falls over the weekend, said one thing that mesmerized her is the warmth and hospitality of the locals, adding that this is such an unforgettable trip.
In partnership with the Department of Tourism and the Provincial Government of Ilocos Norte, the Adams LGU are organizing promotional activities such as the annual “Intado ka Ginginubat (Let’s go to the forest)” every month of September to invite more tourists to visit Adams town.
“From barely 190 participants last year, we are glad that we have more than 300 local and foreign trekkers who registered this year,” Dupagen said referring to the September 29 trek to Anuplig falls.
“We are grateful for all the support that we get from other local officials in neighboring towns and the DOT for always being behind our back,” Dupagen said citing they expect hundreds and thousands of tourists visiting Adams on all year round once the Pagudpud-Adams road is fully completed.
To date, Dupagen reported the road construction is about 80 percent completed while its concrete bridge is currently undergoing construction.
Locals said it has become a big relief for them to go to the city and transport their products to the market with the concreting of the Pagudpud-Adams road.
From a more than an hour ride from Pancian, Pagudpud to Adams town proper, going there is now less than 30-minute drive. Nestled deep in the mountains, surrounded by forests, streams and rice fields, Adams simplicity of living offers a unique experience to city dwellers.
It is gifted with 18 natural waterfalls and 10 hanging bridges that you will not be able to visit in just one day.
Visitors can opt to home-stay at the sparsely populated town proper if they plan to stay overnight or longer.
Another point of interest in Adams is “Lover’s Peak” from where visitors can get a 360-degree view of the Tinamburan mountain ranges. This point is great for sunrise and sunset shots. (PNA)
