DUMAGUETE CITY -- Applications to the video contest promoting geothermal energy, dubbed “Sa Geothermal, May Forever”, has been extended to October 6 to give Negrense filmmakers ample time to submit their entries.

Ma. Esther Espina, communications consultant of the Energy Development Corporation (EDC), on Monday reiterated that professional or amateur filmmakers in Negros Island are encouraged to join the first-ever video contest on geothermal energy.

This is one of EDC’s many projects promoting clean and renewable energy, specifically geothermal energy, which she described as “the only form of renewable energy that provides clean, uninterrupted power 24 hours a day, seven days a week, rain or shine."

Participants can submit a creative video running between three to five minutes on how geothermal energy can give “a brighter future”, she said. The winners will receive P20,000.00 in cash.

Espina said participants need not have high-end video cameras as they can even use a cellphone camera.

Interested applicants are encouraged to visit the Positive Energy Facebook page, where it will be seen by thousands of page’s viewers.

Other awards will be for best screenplay, best actor, best actress, and people’s choice awards that will be announced in a glamorous gala event, with Robi Domingo, a Filipino actor as featured guest. (PNA)
