MANILA -- Operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the Philippine Army (PA) have destroyed about PHP15.31 million worth of fully grown marijuana plants in Kalinga province.

PDEA Director General Aaron Aquino, however, said no cultivator was apprehended during the operation that swept a marijuana cultivation site, with an estimated land area of 12,967 sq. meters, in West Tinglayan, Kalinga last October 27.

Aquino said the operation resulted in the discovery of 74,450 fully grown marijuana plants, which were uprooted and burned on the site.

He said the successful operation was made possible by elements of PDEA’s office in the Cordillera Administrative Region, under Director Juvenal Azurin; PDEA’s office in the Ilocos region, under Director Bryan Babang; and the Army’s 53rd Infantry Battalion. (PNA)
