SAN JOSE De BUENAVISTA, Antique --The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Antique provincial office has started Wednesday to intensify its monitoring of major stores here selling Christmas products.

Glen Fernando, Trade and Industry Development Specialist of the DTI Antique and leader of the monitoring team, in an interview on Thursday said that they are now monitoring major stores in the capital selling Christmas lights and other electrical supplies for the Yuletide season.

The monitoring is being conducted to ensure the safety of the products through valid Import Commodity Clearance (ICC) Certificates and Stickers.

“We visited seven stores yesterday to find out if they are compliant,” he said.

Initially visited were Gaisano, Handyman at Robinson’s, City Square, Unitop, and Mini Kuryente.

“So far the malls and stores we have visited were selling items with valid ICC certificates and stickers,” he said.

The five Chinese and Korean stores in San Jose de Buenavista will also be visited by the monitoring team.

Starting next week, DTI team will also conduct monitoring in the towns of Pandan, Culasi, Bugasong, Patnongon, Sibalom, Tobias Fornier, and Anini-y, all considered as the major trading centers for the northern, central and southern parts of the province. (PNA)
