ZAMBOANGA CITY -- Members of the House Committee on Higher and Technical Education (CHTE) on Thursday evaluated the Zamboanga City State Polytechnic College (ZCSPC) in preparation for its conversion into a university.

CHTE, chaired by Zamboanga Sibugay second district Rep. Anne Hofer, has conducted site and facility inspection, documentary analysis, interview with key officials, informants and other documentary tasks to determine whether ZCSPC is ready to become a university.

Zamboanga City first district Rep. Celso Lobregat, who authored House Bill 3929, joined the Hofer-led committee when they conducted the site inspection and evaluation.

H.B. 3929 seeks to convert the ZCSPC into a state university to be known as Zamboanga Peninsula Polytechnic State University (ZPPSU).

Lobregat said H.B. 3929 would be forwarded to the plenary for approval into a law once the ZCSPC passes the evaluation.

He said the conversion of ZCSPC into a state university status would enhance its prime mission to provide effective and efficient services through advanced technological studies and researches for the tertiary students in Zamboanga City and the region. (PNA)
