Tabora advances to 2nd round of World Cup in Mexico

MANILA – Southeast Asian (SEA) Games medalist Krizziah Lyn Tabora survived the qualifying rounds to advance to the second stage of the ongoing 2017 Quibica AMF Bowling World Cup at the Bol 300 lanes in Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico.

According to the results posted on the tournament website on Friday, Tabora submitted a total of 5098 pinfalls after 24 games.

The 26-year-old Tabora was a member of the Philippine team that won the bronze in the 2017 Kuala Lumpur and 2015 Singapore SEA Games.

Meanwhile, Swedish Jenny Wegner has remained on top with a total of 5453 pinfalls. German Vanessa Timter was second with 5283, followed by Columbian Rocio Restrepo (5258), and American Erin McCarthy (5161).

Malaysian Siti Safiyah Amirah Abdul Rahman registered 5149 pinfalls to improve her ranking from No. 7 to No. 5 while Australian Rebecca Whiting stayed at No. 6 with 5106, followed by Mexican Maribel Orozco with 5099.

Finnish Sanna Pasanen tallied 5038 for ninth place while El Salvador's Edith Quintilla was at No. 10 with 5016 pinfalls.

In the men's division, Malaysian Ahmad Muaz Mohd Fishol tallied 5334 pinfalls to take the lead.

American Jakob Butturf was in second place with 5298, followed by Colombian Oscar Rodriguez with 5252, Belgian Matts Maggi (5249), Italian Nicola Pongolini (5232), British Ray Teece (5225), Mexican Arturo Estrada (5176), Norwegian Tor Inge Jansen (5161), Finnish Niko Oksanen (5136), and German Oliver Morig (5109).

In Stage 2, the Top 24 qualifiers in each division will bowl another eight games to decide the Top 8 qualifiers who will go to Stage 3 (round-robin quarterfinal round). (PNA)
