Pangasinan province, 32 LGUs to receive good governance award

LINGAYEN, Pangasinan -- The province of Pangasinan and its 32 local government units are slated to receive the 2017 Seal of Good Local Government (SGLG) awards from the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).

A list released by the DILG showed that leading the awardees in Pangasinan is the provincial government, which will receive the SGLG honor for the third consecutive year.

Other awardees are the independent component city of Dagupan and the cities of Alaminos, San Carlos, and Urdaneta.

Dagupan City is also receiving the award for the third time.

Twenty-eight of the 44 Pangasinan municipalities will receive the SGLG awards -- Asingan, Aguilar, Alcala, Balungao, Bautista, Bayambang, Binalonan, Bolinao, Bugallon, Burgos, Calasiao, Dasol, Infanta, Laoac, Lingayen, Malasiqui, Manaoag, Mangaldan, Mangatarem, Rosales, San Fabian, San Manuel, San Nicolas, Sta.Barbara, Tayug, Umingan, Urbiztondo, and Villasis.

Pangasinan Governor Amado Espino III and mayors of the LGU awardees will receive the SGLG awards in a ceremony at the Manila Hotel on November 25.

All the SGLG awardees passed the criteria set by the DILG, among them financial administration, disaster preparedness, social protection, peace and order, business friendliness and competitiveness, environmental management and tourism, culture and the arts. (PNA)
