DUMAGUETE CITY – The Philippine National Police’s (PNP) office in Negros Oriental province has resumed its online survey on performance evaluation as part of the PNP Patrol Plan 2030.

“The community engagement form is actually an online survey to measure public understanding and perception of the PNP,” said Sr. Supt. Edwin Portento, acting provincial police director for Negros Oriental.

According to Portento, the online survey began years ago but was stopped when Negros Oriental was removed from Central Visayas or Region 7 and transferred to the then newly-created Negros Island Region (NIR) with the PNP Regional Office 18 (PRO-18) as its mother unit.

President Rodrigo Duterte, however, abolished the NIR effective Sept. 30, 2017, which returned Negros Oriental to Region 7 and Negros Occidental to Western Visayas or Region 6.

Portento said the online survey was resumed to catch up with the PNP Regional Office 7.

The survey forms are posted on social media such as Facebook, with no specific targeted number of respondents as they would like to get as many suggestions and comments as possible, he added.

This is like a “feedback mechanism if the community feels that there is an ongoing change in the PNP,” Portento said, adding that it would also give the people an avenue for them to put in suggestions to improve the PNP’s services.

PRO-7 is now on the third of four stages in the implementation of the PNP Patrol Plan 2030: Initiation, Compliance, Proficiency and Institutionalization, while the provincial police is on the second stage of implementation, he said. (PNA)
