ILOILO CITY -- The Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) will conduct a fun run on November 24 to encourage public to stay away from illegal drugs.

Dubbed “Illegal Drug Awareness and Resistance Education (I.D.A.R.E) to Run 2017,” the activity will be held in Pavia, Iloilo.

In an interview Wednesday, IPPO spokesperson Senior Inspector Rolando Araño said that the fun run is expected to raise public awareness on the ill effects of illegal drugs and eliminate the problem in the communities in the province.

“Since the PNP (Philippine National Police) is no longer leading the anti-drug operations, we are now focusing on the demand reduction of illegal drugs,” he said.

Araño said they aim to gather over a thousand participants to join the activity.

The fun run activity is divided in three categories: 3K, 5K and 7K run. Registration fee for students is PHP50 while PHP70 for professionals.
Araño said that registration is now open. Proceed during the activity will be used to support other drug awareness activities of the IPPO. (PNA)
