ZAMBOANGA CITY -- The City Health Office has reported a continued downtrend in dengue cases since August until October this year.

City Health Officer Rodelin Agbulos on Wednesday said cases of dengue this year are as follows: August, 185; September, 108; October, 266; and, November, 41.

Agbulos said dengue cases from August to November this year are also much lesser than that of the same period last year.

He said dengue cases in August last year were recorded at 457; September, 360; October 340; and November, 348.

He attributed the decline in dengue cases to the sustained cooperation of the barangays in maintaining cleanliness in their respective localities.

Meanwhile, Agbulos said they would focus the anti-dengue campaign in 10 of this city’s 98 barangays that registered high number of dengue cases.

The 10 barangays and the corresponding cases of dengue are as follows: Calarian, 120; Tetuan, 115; San Roque, 112; Talon-Talon, 110; Pasonanca, 109; Mercedes, 99; Putik, 97; Sta. Maria, 96; Tumaga, 92; and, Baliwasan, 77. (PNA)
