F2 Logistics clinches PHL Superliga Grand Prix crown

MANILA -- Import Maria Jose Perez displayed her brilliant form anew as F2 Logistics clinched the Chooks to Go-Philippine Superliga (PSL) Grand Prix title over Petron, 25-20, 25-19, 20-25, 25-18, on Saturday night at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

The 6-foot-2 Venezuelan who has competed in the 2008 Beijing Olympics scored 24 points and bagged the Most Valuable Player award.

Cha Cruz contributed 16 points for F2 Logistics, which pocketed its second title after winning the All-Filipino Conference in 2015.

“It’s a sweet victory for us," said coach Ramil de Jesus, referring to their team losing to Petron in the All-Filipino Conference finals last July.

"We made some adjustments and they (Petron) failed to respond. We also made some key defensive stops that led us to this win," he added.

Hillary Hurley, who was named First Best Outside Spiker, scored 24 points for Petron, while Lindsay Stalzer, who won the Second Best Outside Spiker award, chipped in nine points.

Other winners of the special awards were Sara Klisura (Best Scorer), Mika Reyes (1st Best Middle Blocker), Majoy Baron (2nd Best Middle Blocker), Kim Fajardo (Best Setter), Jaja Santiago (Best Opposite), Kianna Dy (Best Opposite), Dawn Macandili (Best Libero) and Yuri Fukuda (2nd Best Libero).
