3,879 families so far affected by 'Agaton'

MANILA -- The number of families affected by Tropical Depression Agaton has now climbed to 3,879 or 16,142 individuals, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said in its Wednesday update.

NDRRMC Executive Director Ricardo Jalad said these families are residents of 108 barangays in Western and Central Visayas, Northern Mindanao, and the CARAGA regions.

Of the total, 1,435 families or 5,822 persons are being accommodated in 55 evacuation centers while another 367 families or 1,599 individuals are being aided outside evacuation centers.

Jalad also said that PHP859,510 worth of aid has been provided by the Department of Social Welfare and Development and concerned local government units to affected families in Western and Eastern Visayas and CARAGA.

As of Wednesday, 4,549 families have been preemptively evacuated from Mimaropa, Western and Central Visayas, Zamboanga, Northern Mindanao and CARAGA. (PNA)
