LPA spotted off Butuan City

MANILA—A low-pressure area (LPA) last observed at 95 kilometers east of Butuan City, Agusan del Norte province will bring scattered rainshowers Thursday, as the northeast monsoon continues to affect northern and central Luzon.

In its 24-hour forecast, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Bicol region, Eastern Visayas, the provinces of Quezon, Romblon, Northern Cebu, Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Norte, including Siargao Island will have cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms caused by the LPA.

Cagayan Valley region, Cordillera Administrative region, Ilocos region, Aurora and the rest of central Luzon will experience scattered rains due to the northeast monsoon.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have isolated rainshowers brought by localized thunderstorms.

Strong gale force winds associated with the northeast monsoon is expected in the northern seaboard of northern Luzon and water condition will be rough to very rough in the western seaboard and northern Luzon.

Fishing boats and small seacraft are advised to avoid venturing far into the sea where big waves are present. (PNA)
