MANILA -- Geje Eustaquio was named the new interim One Championship flyweight title holder after beating Kazakhstan's Kairat Akhmetov in their much-anticipated rematch in the main event of One: Global Superheroes at the Mall of Asia Arena Friday night.

Eustaquio avenged his controversial loss to Akhmetov in their first meeting in a fashionable manner as he never gave his opponent an inch to perform his ground game for most of the match.

Eustaquio began the game with his strikes landing on Akhmetov.

Akhmetov, however, had a chance to send the game to the ground only for Eustaquio to turn it to his favor with the ground-and-pound.

Akhmetov eventually slowed down as Eustaquio continued his striking action to frustrate him.

The three judges made a unanimous decision to give the win to Eustaquio, who now has a chance to face reigning One flyweight champ, Brazil's Adriano Moraes, in a unification fight in the near future. (PNA)
