ESPERANZA, Sultan Kudarat -- A lady philanthropist who wanted to make her town peaceful and progressive built a building to be used by law enforcers as Community Police Assistance Center (CPAC), the police here said Thursday.

The New CPAC building for the Esperanza police office was put up at the town’s public market to ensure safety of market gers.

“This is my way of helping my community, I was born here, I grew up here and I believe I have to go back here to help,” said Lalaine Villaruel-Suhanda, president and chief executive officer of Metrovi Group of Companies, Promarigold Corporation and Tierra Montana Hotel in Gen. Santos City.

Villaruel-Suhanda is a member of the PRO-12 Regional Advisory Council (RAC-12).

She officially handed over the structure to Sr. Supt. Johnson Almazan, deputy regional director for operations of PRO-12, in fitting ceremonies held here Tuesday and attended by Sultan Kudarat Governor Pax Mangudadatu and Senior Supt. Raul Supiter, police provincial director.

The CPAC, which operates on a 24-hour basis, will serve as crime deterrent and refuge for beleaguered residents who will seek police assistance. The project is in support to the PNP PATROL Plan 2030.

“Villaruel-Suhanda has been a regular and constant provider to PRO-12, particularly in the financial aspect of the construction of several projects such as the renovation of St Michael the Archangel Chapel, the construction of Makatarungan Hall, and the PRO12 Memorial Park,” said Chief Insp. Aldrin Gonzales, head of the PRO-12 public information office.

Gonzales said the philanthropist had lined-up various activities to be implemented by RAC-12 such as the upcoming medical mission on Feb. 18, which would coincide with the Feast of Our Lady of Hope in Esperanza, and other community outreach programs.

Villaruel-Suhanda said the initiative was her way of giving back the help needed by her native town where she grew up and took her primary and secondary education and to thank God for the blessings she received.

On Feb. 18, the RAC-12 and local police, in partnership with other law enforcers and medical professionals, would conduct medical mission at the Poblacion gymnasium as part of programs lined up for the feast of Our Lady of Hope parish, Villaruel-Suhanda said. (PNA)
