ZAMBOANGA CITY -- The City Health Office is set to complete this month its vaccination program on the prevention of cervical cancer among female students in this city.

Dr. Dulce Amor Dagalea-Miravite, OIC city health officer, on Thursday told the Philippine News Agency that there were 8,440 Grade 4 female students who were beneficiaries of the vaccination program.

Most of the beneficiary-students are enrolled in public schools and at the Puericulture Elementary School.

Miravite said the beneficiaries of the program received two doses of Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) vaccine.

She said they already received the first dose in August 2017 and the second dose would be given anytime this month to complete the vaccination program.

She said they initiated the HPV vaccination program on females students since cervical cancer was one of the common cancer which affects women. (PNA)
