MANILA -- The Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) under the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) is seeking from the public short environment-related video materials for airing during the country's 2018 Green Film Festival.

"We already have videos for airing throughout GFF, but parties interested in sharing their materials can submit these to us for possible screening as well during the festival," said EMB information chief Elenida Basug.

Basug said EMB would assess materials submitted, so the agency could choose which to air during GFF.

The EMB and SM Supermalls Shopping Center Management Corp. are partnering on GFF, in cooperation with the Department of Education and the Commission on Higher Education.
Launched at a cinema of SM North EDSA mall in Quezon City last Tuesday, GFF aims to raise public awareness on environmental issues.

The festival is also in line with Republic Act No. 9512 or the National Environmental Awareness and Education Act of 2008.
Videos from various DENR units were aired during the launch, highlighting climate change and the Philippines' rich natural resources and the need to protect these for future generations.

Basug said video screenings for the festival are done at 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. every second Tuesday of April, June, August, and October in SM cinemas around the country.

She said the screenings would be simultaneous and still free of charge and open to all.
SM, she said, is announcing which of its cinemas would air the videos.

Among the schools that attended the launch were San Francisco High School, Ismael Mathay High School, and Philippine Maritime Institute. (PNA)
